Unlike something like radon, testing for mold is very quick. When we come to your property it will usually take 20-45 minutes to collect the samples we need and do the inspection. From there, it will take around 36-48 hours to get results processed at our lab. If you need results sooner we can rush the results. Please call us if you have an urgent request and we will do our best to work with you to get results.
Since we do not do any removal, we will provide a detailed report with next steps and recommendations for you to work directly with a mold abatement company. There are some companies we can recommend based on your situation once we know that results.
Most mold does not actually come from humidity. Rather, homes grow hidden mold when a leak or flood occurs and goes unnoticed or ignored. Failed window seals/frames, failed drains in showers, sinks, toilets, etc., are all examples of leaks that often get neglected until it's a big enough problem. If you have a water source in your home you can have mold.

Before a test, make sure all windows and doors are closed at least 6 hours before (you can go in and out of the house but don't let doors stay open). Turn off any air purifiers 24 hours before the test. If you are getting a mycotoxin test, do not clean or dust the home before the test.
If you are getting sick and want to rule out mold as a potential reason for the sickness there are a number of tests to determine the mold levels/toxicity in your home. However, we cannot make judgments on your personal health. We highly recommend sharing the results with your doctor in addition to doing any recommended remediation to remove any mold in your home if the results are positive for mold.
Local home improvement stores often sell petri dish tests that collect static mold in the air. While these can be an indicator of mold, they do not provide details into the actual mold elevation in your home or the mold species. This often leads to more questions than answers. It is better and less expensive to proper testing the first time around.
